Alexis “Lex” Miller, Director of Business Operations for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic for WeWork, has joined our BUILD Boston Board.
BUILD and WeWork have forged a strong partnership in the past year, since the nonprofit decided to relocate from a rented space downtown into WeWork’s South Station location.
“In addition to providing world-class amenities, WeWork provides BUILD with a network of friends and partners,” said Ed Wilson, BUILD Boston’s Director of Philanthropy. “We are thrilled to have Lex join our Board of Advisors at BUILD. He is a great friend and an invaluable advocate for our work.”
“I started volunteering with BUILD in Boston a couple of years ago and it was immediately evident to me how impactful the program is for our public school students,” Miller said. “I witnessed the students in BUILD exhibit amazing strength, resilience, creativity, curiosity, leadership, and team-building skills. Many BUILD students display these traits at a level of adult entrepreneurs. Moreover, I have been impressed by the mentors and the staff of BUILD. Their passion and commitment is authentic and contagious.”
“I wish that I had BUILD in my high school,” said Miller. “It would have expanded my world view, enhanced my engagement, and accelerated my skillset and confidence. It took me 10 years after high school to learn many of the skills and lessons that BUILD students learn during their four years in the program. That’s why I want to help advance BUILD’s mission. I want to do my part to help realize the next generation of creators. They are depending on us and the world is depending on them.”
