Asked why he joined BUILD’s Board of Advisors, Alex says, “I always told myself when l was in a position to do so, l wanted to give back to my community, because many great individuals have helped me throughout my life, now it’s my turn. Being a member of BUILD gives me the perfect platform to be a positive catalyst to help our gifted youth in under-resourced communities.”
Alex was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe and came to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream when he was 21 years old. He worked 70 hours a week as a janitor, courier driver and security guard while attending college full time. After graduating from St. John’s College, he went on to obtain his MBA from Assumption College in Worcester, MA.
“We are thrilled to bring Alex’s expertise and enthusiasm to our Boston Board,” says Ed Wilson, BUILD Boston’s Director of Philanthropy. “Alex is one of the most resilient people I have ever met. His life story is truly inspiring” (To hear Alex’s story listen to the United Planet Podcast).
