2018 Highlights

Bottom Feeders: Winners of the 2018 BUILDFest Pitch ChallengeJeremiah E. At the 2018 BUILDFest Pitch Challenge, three ninth-grade student business teams competed in a Shark-Tank style pitch competition in front of 500 guests and a panel of VIP judges. The event was emceed by Vanessa Welch of Boston 25 and kicked off with remarks by Mayor Martin J. Walsh.

Students from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester took home the first-place cash prize for their product Bottom Feeders: an adhesive vinyl sheet that prevents unwanted objects from sticking to the bottom of your sneakers. The event raised over $650,000 for BUILD’s youth entrepreneurship program with over 50 sponsors from Boston’s business community. Read more on our blog.
